Career Opportunity: US Rates Analyst

Location: NYC, New York, USA (or possible remote work)

Salary: Competitive + benefits

The Opportunity

We are adding a new analyst to our team covering US rates markets on an intraday basis.  This is an ideal opportunity if you are a market professional who loves following, analyzing and writing about markets but are looking for a different working environment or balance than that traditionally offered by banks and funds.  For anyone who enjoys the thrill of following markets on a minute by minute basis, that wants to understand and discuss with other market participants the important drivers of the Fixed Income market but at the same time no longer needs the added pressure of managing P&L and trades, this is the perfect position for you.

Since we need you to cover US market hours and work closely with our other analysts based in New York City, the ideal candidate would be based within commuting distance of downtown Manhattan. Nevertheless, for an exceptional candidate, we could consider someone further away and working remotely.

We would love to talk to you if this role is of interest and if you feel you fit with our vision of what we need to add to the team. To apply for this position please send both your resume and a cover letter to careers@itcmarkets.com. Examples of short market commentary you have written in the past highlighting important market drivers would also be appreciated.

Who Are InTouch Capital Markets (ITC)?

We are the premier dedicated provider of intraday market information, analysis and commentary.  We are based in London (since 2004) and New York (since 2013) and will be expanding into Singapore later this year.  We were established 16 years ago and have grown every year since.  Our clients are professional market participants, primarily at top tier banks, hedge funds, brokers and proprietary trading firms.

We have services focused on Fixed Income, FX and central banks.  We only focus on providing fast, quality, objective information for our clients – we do not do trading, broking or trade recommendations.

We are passionate about the markets and providing the best service to our clients. We are an entrepreneurial company looking to grow our existing products and expand into new areas.  We are innovative and forward looking, continually looking to reinvent, evolve and improve our services to stay relevant and best in class.  We minimize bureaucracy and operate a flat team structure.   We are a small, friendly, close-knit team offering a more flexible, open, energetic and fun work environment.

Our Teams

We know that our key differentiator and the driver for our success, both past and future, is the quality of our team and we are very proud of the group we have.  We invest a lot of time into ensuring we have a friendly, professional group with the right mix of experience and technical knowledge, ability to work as a cohesive team and bought into the mission of what we are trying to achieve.  The core of our team is made up of former bank traders and strategists and then mixed with talent trained in-house.

We are an equal opportunity employer – we hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds and are committed to continuing to build a diverse team.  We believe this will make our team and society stronger.  If you share our values and can bring the skills and passion we need, combined with market expertise, then you will find a great home with us.

Our Fixed Income Service

You will take a senior role in producing our InTouch Fixed Income service.  The service provides real-time intraday written market analysis, commentary and information on all market drivers in G10 bonds and rates (cash, swaps, futures, options). We are focused on short term intraday moves, putting them into context of wider market themes and delivered in a concise, digestible format.  Speed and accuracy is key for our clients and is at the center of our offering.

Your Role

You will work very closely with other members of our Fixed Income team (currently six senior members across London and New York) as well as our other teams focused on different market sectors and products.  You will be in direct contact with our client base via Bloomberg and engaged in a constant dialogue about markets.

You will provide a quick, filtered view for our clients on anything you think is important to the rates markets.  This will primarily involve writing short pieces – a sentence through to a couple of paragraphs – very quickly for our clients for whom a few seconds can make all the difference.  You will also contribute towards bigger picture, slightly longer content pieces bit always with focus on maximizing the greatest amount of information without being long winded.

Topics we most frequently analyse and comment on include trading flows, auctions, issuance, economic data, news flow and central bank action but we also touch on other subjects as required by prevailing market themes.  To do this, you will closely follow markets, monitor multiple sources of information and gather insights from your contact base.

Your Skills – Will You Fit in this Role?

You are passionate about financial markets with particular knowledge and interest in the US rates markets.  You have experience as a trader, portfolio manager, salesperson or desk strategist.  You can fluently discuss all aspects of rates markets and have an appreciation of factors most important to short term market moves.

You are a high energy individual, interested in analyzing short-term market moves in a time sensitive and reactive manner.  You are able to rapidly absorb information and provide quick, accurate thoughts in written format to our clients.

You can work seamlessly and effectively in a team but, once roles are established, take ownership of your regular tasks and not require micro managing.

You have strong communication skills and can write quickly and fluently.  Preferably you have experience writing market commentary or recaps.

You are composed and quick working under time pressure: when markets are moving, we need to react quickly

You are comfortable working with computers at an intermediate level including a working knowledge on Excel, Word, Outlook and Bloomberg including setting up and manipulating Launchpads.  More advanced skills are preferable but are not essential.

You can speak and write English to a first-language standard
