Location: NYC, New York
Salary: Competitive + benefits
InTouch Capital Markets are looking to add a new analyst to its US rates markets coverage team. This is an ideal opportunity for market professionals who love following, analyzing and discussing markets on an intraday basis but are looking for a different working environment and balance than that traditionally offered by banks and funds. We will consider both more senior individuals with strong experience working in the rates markets and more junior level individuals in the early stages of their career. We are in particular keen to talk to applicants with short-end/money market experience but will consider candidates with expertise in any field relevant to the rates markets.
The successful applicant will join our New York office to work alongside our senior analyst team of former bank traders and strategists, reporting to our US office Managing Director and head US analyst Sean O’Rourke. For the right candidate we will consider a partly remote based role once they are fully integrated into the team.
InTouch Capital Markets is a growing company providing financial market information. We are based in London and New York. Our clients are banks, hedge funds, brokers and proprietary trading firms. Our Fixed Income clients rely on us to provide real-time information, commentary and analysis on all aspects of the rates markets. The focus is on analysing and reporting – we do not do any trading or broking.
The successful candidate will work alongside the rest of the team to analyse markets and write content, covering the US session. The role requires a high energy, intense individual and is primarily focused on analyzing and commenting on short-term market moves in a very time sensitive and reactive manner. Candidates must be able to rapidly absorb information and provide quick reactions and analysis in short written pieces (a sentence through to a couple of paragraphs) as quickly as possible for our clients for whom a few seconds can make all the difference.
Key day-to-day tasks include following markets, monitoring multiple sources of information (newswires, data, TV), leveraging your contact base to gather further insights, writing short and time sensitive content pieces about prevailing conditions and contributing towards bigger picture, slightly longer content pieces.
Key Skills and Attributes:
➢ Deep knowledge and interest on the fundamentals and drivers of the rates market and macroeconomy
➢ Particular focus on short-term, intraday market drivers
➢ 5+ years (for a more senior role) or 1-2yrs+ (for a more junior role) of rates market experience
➢ Understanding what information is important to traders and short-term focused market participants
➢ Experience writing about the markets (recaps, strategy pieces, reports) preferred
➢ Energetic, enthusiastic, focused
➢ Works well in a team with strong communication skills
➢ Composed and quick working under time pressure: when markets are moving, we need to react quickly
➢ Working knowledge of the Bloomberg Professional Terminal & Microsoft Office
➢ Fluent English to first language standard
➢ Permitted to work in US
